Satellite Internet: Elon Musk’s Starlink service available in Guadeloupe and Martinique, Guyana planned for 2023

With Starlink, his satellite internet service, Elon Musk wants to revolutionize internet access everywhere, by offering a relatively affordable solution in areas deprived of networks or poorly served. SpaceX promises throughput between 50 and 200 megabits per second as well as low latency of up to 60 ms.

The kit is offered at a price of 450 € and consists of a dish, a Wi-Fi router, a base and cables. The subscription is €70/month for the residential version and €90/month for the motorhome version. The service will be deployed in Guyana in the course of 2023.

SpaceX has deployed nearly 3,000 Starlink satellites since 2019 and performs about one launch per week with its own Falcon 9 rockets to accelerate the deployment of its constellation. Starlink claims more than 700,000 customers worldwide, including 75,000 in Europe and 6,500 in France.
