The elegant brasserie Alfred, located in the heart of the capital (Paris 1er), called on the former top chef candidate, Alexia Duchêne, to design its menu.
The experience is worth the detour for the very elegant decor. Produced by the Necchi Architecture studio, it is about lines in the new Aflred brasserie (Paris, 1.). Panels in primary colors refer to Mondrian’s paintings, with added patina. The facade is inspired by a film by Jacques Tati.
A decidedly modern influence that can also be found on the menu. From starters to desserts, chef Alexia Duchêne – known for her appearance on Top Chef – wanted to bring her little extra touch to the emblematic dishes of Parisian brasseries.

It starts with the indispensable eggs, mayo with scallions (a plant from the celery family) enhanced with trout eggs (€8). Another great classic, the leeks with vinaigrette are prepared here with yellow wine and Comté cheese. The apparently simple dishes are given a twist with the small ingredient that makes all the difference: the whiskey sauce for the beef tenderloin (€31) or the candied lemon to enhance the homemade gnocchi (€26).
As for the desserts, the (very) generous chocolate mousse (€11) is served with streaks of pistachio and streusel (Alsatian crumble). But we prefer the white dunes, well known around the Arcachon basin, served with a chocolate sauce (€12).
