LONDON (Reuters) – Danone said on Wednesday it had more than doubled its shipments to the United States of Neocate, a food substitute for babies with cow’s milk allergy, since March.

The United States is experiencing an unprecedented shortage of infant formula, aggravated by the recall launched in February by the Abbott laboratory of products suspected of having caused the death of two infants.

Danone told Reuters it was in discussions with U.S. authorities to determine what additional steps it could take to alleviate the shortage.
