the Rotaract Club of Le Havre (Seine Maritime) brings together, for ten years, about twenty members aged 18 to 35 whose objective is to propose events for charitable purposes during the year. Friday, June 3, 2022, a great first for Rotaract: “ A dinner in the dark. » Théo Davoine, head of Rotaract in Normandy explains the concept.

“A meal whose menu is kept secret”

By accepting “this unique experience, you will dine in the dark and in addition you will not know in advance what you are going to eat”. Théo Davoine is sure: “People want to take advantage of new experiences at the moment. Dinner in the dark has already been offered in Normandy but never by the Rotaract of Le Havre. » Rotaract has partnered with the restaurant « A cloud in the cup », avenue Foch for the occasion. “They have already organized this kind of event. »

To really feel what people with visual impairments experience, the menu will not be known to gourmets. “It will invite us to wake up our taste buds, that’s for sure”, promises Théo.

The meal scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 3 takes place entirely blindfolded and in the dark. Customers will be guided until the end of the meal punctuated by times of exchange on the experience lived with visually impaired people.

Profits donated to an association

To participate in this experience, it will cost you 43 euros (starter, main course, dessert and drink). “Ten euros per meal will be donated to the Le Havre association Louis-Delamare, which acts for the good of the blind and helps the visually impaired and blind. They are planning a cultural outing,” says Théo. If this initiative finds takers, then Rotaract plans to redo dinners in the dark.
